• Clean surface of concrete and remove high points with a concrete chisel.
• If surface to be covered is a flat roof, then clean area. If there is a membrane, or if it is an older roof with tar and pea gravel, add pea gravel as required to level.
• If you are installing on a ground level patio, prepare cribbing with 6"x6" timbers as shown in the schematic and fill crib with approximately 1"-2" of pea gravel, to level. It is advisable to spray grass or soil area in crib with a vegetation killer, and lay black landscape fabric down before spreading the pea gravel to inhibit weed growth.

• You have to choose a corner to start with a full tile. Give some thought to this as it will ultimately affect where your cut tile will be (if you need to cut) and that will either subtract or enhance the final overall look.
• Set all the full tiles, making sure to push them together tightly.
• Alternate ever other tile so slats go in different directions, this will give the floor a parquet effect, and also the tile fit will be better.

• Make a line on the back of the tile where it is to be cut.
• Measure "fat" so the tile can be forced into place to make a tight fit.
• Make cut with a skilsaw or jigsaw and cut from the back of the tile to prevent splintering on the upper face.

• To cut tile parallel with the slat, cut through the plastic tube with a sharp knife or wood chisel.
• To cut tile across slats, simply cut with the saw.
• If cutting through tubing, or one side of tile is to be removed that has a tube in it, then the slats have to be held together accordingly.
• To hold slats together, separate 1" staples by hand, and hammer staples in to connect slats along line to be cut (1 leg of staple in each slat). Keep staples back about 1" from line. N.B. Put a row of staples on either side of line to prevent slats binding on the saw blade.
• It is also possible to micro adjust slats along the length of plastic tubing by removing the staple that holds the slat to the tube. Slide the slat to the required location and re-staple. The staple can be removed with a flat head screwdriver.

• Sand cut edges as required.
• Check complete area to make sure tiles do not rock
• If the occasional tile does not sit completely flat, shim low point with either wood shims or roof shingles or membrane material cut into 2" strips, using the same principle as putting a book of matches under a wobbly table leg.
